When Life Delivers You to a Fire Hydrant
The other day, I made a small mistake while ordering something online. I typed in the wrong street address for my location to have my package delivered.
While trying to deliver the package, the delivery driver called me, confused. The location on her GPS delivery system in her truck, was showing a fire hydrant in an empty filed. The street address I entered was mapped to a fire hydrant in an empty field.
I laughed quickly gave them the deliver driver my correct address. My package was successfully delivered, but the typing mistake stuck with me.
I was not surprised the fire hydrant may had a GPS address tag as the fire department needs to know where the fire hydrants are in an emergency situation.
However, the fact that my small mistakes got mapped to a fire hydrant in an empty field got me thinking: how often does a small mistake in your own life leave your somewhere you did not expect?
A single mistyped number, letter or set of misspoken words can often send you far off course in your own life.
Not just with delivery orders, but with your own goals, intentions, and dreams.
For example,
- You say you want peace, but then fill your days with stress and noise.
- You say you want connection, but then avoid vulnerability.
- You say you want progress, but then keep repeating your same patterns and your same habits.
It’s like asking the Universe to deliver you joy, happiness and prosperity, but you accidentally giving the Universe the address of a fire hydrant in an empty field.
When Your Life Calls You Up to Correct a Mistake
At first, it can feel like an inconvenience, making a small mistake. Just like that delivery driver who just wants to drop off the package and move on but has to call to get your correct address. But really, it’s a gift. It’s life giving you the chance to change your course and life trajectory.
Luckily, life has a way of “calling” you when your directions don’t make sense. It might be:
- A friend pointing out that you seem to need a change in your life.
- A setback that forces you to reevaluate your life.
- A feeling deep inside, your 1st sense, your intuition that whispers, “This isn’t working.”
Correcting the Wrong Address
The beauty is that you don’t have to stay stuck at the fire hydrant in the empty field. You can always revise the address you are giving the Universe by:
- Instead of saying yes to everything, you can learn to set boundaries.
- Instead of blaming circumstances and being a victim, you can ask, What can I change in me?
- Instead of rushing, you can pause and realign with your true destination and your soul plan for this lifetime.
Like fixing a typo, it doesn’t take much to shift things in the right direction, to new right location in your life.
The wrong address didn’t mean I wasn’t going to get my package. It just meant there’d be a delay until I clarified what my actual location was.
And the same is true for you. Your dreams, your growth, your joy—they don’t vanish when you make mistakes. They’re just waiting for you to give the correct address for your own soul path.
So next time the Universe calls you delivers to a fire hydrant in an empty field, don’t despair. Pick up the call, laugh at the mistake, and give the Universe right directions. The package including the life you truly desire is still on the way.
Giving the Universe your correct address can create a significant positive impact in your own life.
